FAQ: More Magic items for 5e: The Griffon's Saddlebag | Book One
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

What's in this book?

365 illustrated magic items from the Saddlebag’s first year, loot tables, color-coded item carts, 12 new subclasses that tie into the Saddlebag’s lore, 2 settings, and a villain. Everything in this book can be dropped into your existing worlds: nothing requires a specific campaign or setting for it to work!

Are the items on the cards the same as what's in the book?

Sure are! You can use the book and the cards in tandem to create your perfect physical pairing of reference and handouts! They go together as well as dungeons and dragons do.

How big is the book?

The same size as other official materials. They’re printed on 8.5”x11” paper and will line up nicely with your other favorite roleplaying game books.

The Deluxe copy of the book: are the pages gold leafed?

They’re not! Gold leafing the edges of paper can burn ‘em pretty bad, and since there are the item letters along the sides of each page, as well as item art, we can’t really afford that kind of paper real-estate loss. The cover is gold leafed, though, and comes with the exclusive art!

What's the Deck of Many?

The Deck of Many is my retailing partners for my physical products. They’re renowned for their quality content and reference cards, and are the legendary creators of the highly successful Humblewood Campaign Setting.

When I get cards with my pledge, can I choose any packs of cards?

Yes! After the campaign is finished, you can choose which decks of cards you want using the Backerkit pledge manager.

Card packs have been unlocked! What does that mean for me?

As card packs are unlocked, that means that I can afford to have these packs of cards printed right away. That means that you can choose these packs of cards as part of your 4 included packs from the $100+ pledge tiers. Beyond pledge tiers, you’ll be able to order these packs of cards through Backerkit once the campaign ends in April as an add-on to your pledge!

When will I get my rewards?

The current goal is September, which is a generous enough timeline where there shouldn’t be any unavoidable hurdles. Coupling that with the professional fulfillment services and experience of The Deck of Many, you can be sure that your rewards will get to you.

Of course, if anything does happen, you’ll be sure to hear about it in the updates section!

I want to order the cards sooner rather than later. How can I do that?

You can order the first 2 volumes of Deck of Many cards through their website. Volumes 3 and 4 are currently being printed and will be available soon!

Is there anything in this book that isn't already online?

No, and that’s okay! This book is intended to fill the void between your screen and your hands. If books aren’t important to you, then the Ledger+ access and PDF might be a better fit for you! And of course, you can always get your digital content fix through the Patreon.

You say these stretch goals are for free adventures. What does that mean?

A big part of the Saddlebag is accessibility. Because these adventures run the risk of being large and changing the size and costs of the books, they’ll stay digital for the time being. Because of that, it becomes a little silly to restrict access to this content based on who does and doesn’t have a certain file, so like all of my settings and extra-item content online, it’ll be unlocked and available to everyone everywhere. The world gets better when more people have fun with their friends, and this is a great way to do that. Thank you for helping make the community a better place!

How much is shipping?

The shipping company I’m using will be able to give some convenient discounts across the United States, but not as many discounts as you get farther from there. For orders within the USA, your base shipping costs will be $10. Everywhere else can vary based on the weight of parcel.

How do I get my add-ons? Are you using a pledge manager?

Yes! Backerkit! You’ll be able to order multiples with your pledge as if it were from a store. After the pledge manager goes live after the Kickstarter’s conclusion, you can change your pledge to match the costs of what you order by adding onto your existing pledge. I hope you enjoy those add-ons!

Tell me more about the bag.

It’s 15” in diameter and about 4 inches deep. It’s hand stitched, dyed, and painted, and comfortably fits several 5e books and volumes of cards. You can attach backpack or messenger straps to it to wear in whichever format you want to! It has yet to wink at me or show signs of extradimensional pocket spaces, but I haven’t given up hope yet.

Who's the fish?

That’s Gordon. His bowl is actually bigger than it looks: it’s got a magnifying effect to it!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
